My name is Muyinda Aaron. I have written this article to share with you how I spent my last term holiday in 2024. On 5th December, my parents brought an idea of going on a trip to Boston. They wanted to surprise my uncle who lives there.
Two days later our grandmother called all children. She told them to pack their suitcases to leave for USA. We all ran to our rooms and hurriedly packed all the things we needed for the journey. In just a few minutes, we were set for the journey. We thought were going to travel direct to the airport but our grandmother told the driver to first take us to the Wildlife Education Center in Entebe. At the zoo, we saw many kinds of animals like lions, zebras, rhinos, elephants, snakes monkeys and many aquatic animals.
After the zoo, we boarded our car to the Entebe Airport. The journey from home took us an hour and thirty minutes to reach the airport. We successfully checked in. They checked our luggage and weighed it. They also weighed us and checked our travel documents. Having confirmed all our particulars, we boarded the Emirates Airlines prestigious aeroplane. We sat in the business class. The journey was very enjoyable. The airhostesses served us snacks and juice.
When we alighted the aeroplane, we boarded a Uber which took us to the uncle’s home. We knocked at uncle’s gate and he happily opened for us. We all said, “Surprise!” It was really a surprise because he never expected anyone. He gave each person 100 dollars to thank us for the visit. We stayed in the US for a week. Our uncle took us to a bakery and learnt how to bake cakes. The following day he took us to learn how to swim. It was really fun. We were trained by very skilled trainers in the US. We learnt a lot of swimming strokes.
After that week, our uncle told us, “It is high time you went back to Uganda.” Before leaving the US, we went shopping. We bought some clothes and shoes. We were very happy. It was really a great experience. We went back to Uganda and we then celebrated Christmas together.
